A retelling of the many adventures Kirby has had over the years since 1992.
Updates Saturdays and sometimes Wednesdays.
So, there's a lot to say about this page.
First, I'm admittedly kind of reaching for abilities to show off in places. Hence ParasolKine and StoneCoo here, and CutterKine last time. I've managed to figure out how to get it to work out, but it's still kinda eh.
Second, the name of the Shade Swipers works on multiple levels. They have weapons they can swipe with, they've swiped Kirby's friends here, and I guess you can say they've helped Dark Matter swipe the shades of color, since shade could refer to the colors that they're working against in a swiping way, or it could refer to darkness which they're in alliance with. Not bad for a last-minute name.
And theeen there's the monkey.
For those of you that don't know, in the Japanese version of Kirby's Dreamland 2, one of the people that could be stuck in the bags was a girl named Chao. (She was replaced with Blob in the US release.) Chao is from a game called Famicom Mukashibanashi: Yuyuki, a Japan-only game that was yet another adaptation of "Journey to the West". Naturally, one of the characters in there was based on Sun Wukong, and as such the game had this monkey character, by the name of Goku.
(I'm guessing the Dragonball Goku was based on the same JttW character, considering I think he has monkey attributes? I dunno, I haven't watched a lot of Dragonball.)
To note, Goku and Chao did both appear in Kirby's Dreamland 3, so it's not too incredibly out of nowhere to have them here.
Anyway, yeah, it's incredibly hard to find screenshots of Yuyuki, and sprite sheets for it seem to be nonexistent, so I only have a handful of sprites to work with. Mostly from the Dreamland 3 cameo.
Wait, the Advisor isn't the boss? :O
He's the advisor...?
Well...*tongue noise* didn't see him coming.
Ha. Shadow Beauties. I see what ya did thar. xD
And yeah, the monkey seemed random until I read the author comment.
Now he only seems kind of random.
Ah, finally got around to reading this comic! I'm enjoying all the little "me" references, hehe.
